BULLET CLASSIC 500CC

Picture
he Royal Enfield Bullet has for decades been the byword for rugged, refined cool and a bike handcrafted to perfection. The Bullet Classic was unveiled by Royal Enfield at Intermot exhibition in Germany. They have already launched this mouthwatering classic version of its legendary motorcycle abroad. Bullet Classic was first launched in Germany followed by European launch. But for India Royal Enfield has removed the "Bullet" tag from the name and it is going to be sold as "Royal Enfield Classic" for Indian Market. For India Royal Enfield has launched the Classic in two models - Classic 350 & Classic 500. Unique Features Of  Royal Enfield Classic

- Wheels - New 18 inch wheels for better ride and handling. Pagani turn signals, Avon Speedmaster tyres. Improved for higher speeds, better handling.

Looks & Styling Of Royal Enfield Classic

The front number plate, the logo, that classic green colour and 1950s looks. Royal Enfield Classic really looks like a post World War II motorcycle. Royal Enfield has carefully tweaked the style of the Classic, but retains its retro roots.  The round headlamps with his young guard, the analog valves, the individual semi with visible steel springs and deep-drawn fenders of the rear tire result in a successful combination of style elements of the’50s. The front and rear mudguards are almost of the same looks including the fuel tank and exhaust and headlight casing as well as the same single seat saddle.

Main Styling Elements Of Royal Enfield Classic

- Traditional looking front number plate
- Classic style round headlamp
- Visible steel springs
- Deep-drawn fenders of the rear tire

The reason to launch Classic with 346cc engine is that Royal Enfield dont want this bike to be popular only among the buyers who have budget of over 1.25 lakh rupees, the Classic 350 is avaialable for Rs. 99000, ex-showroom New Delhi which makes it very affordable as there is no change in terms of design and styling of both the models. What is really new in the Royal Enfield Classic is a UCE (Unit Construction Engine).

In the Royal Enfield Classic's engine, the clutch and gearbox are situated outside, they are both integrated into the crankcase. Royal Enfield claims that the UCE construction gives the Classic less moving parts, less transmission loss and less maintenance issues. Royal Enfield Classic comes with contemporary features like electric start and 280mm Disc brake at the front with internal expanding drum brake at the rear. Additionally, the EFI engine is married to a 5-speed gearbox. Royal Enfield has dumped the traditional carburetor for a modern electronic fuel injection system on the new bike so as to facilitate better air-fuel mixture optimization, smoother operation, better power delivery over a wide range of altitudes, and cleaner emissions.

PULSAR 220

Picture

Pulsar's 220cc oil cooled, Digital Twin Spark Fuel Injection (DTS FI) engine produces an awesome power of 20 Bhp at 8500rpm and an incredible torque of 19 Nm at 6500rpm. It also features the Bajaj’s well proven exhausTEC (to beef up low-down power). Pulsar 220cc features the standard five speed gearbox with one down and four up pattern. Oil cooler placed just below the fuel tank helps in further cooling of engine lubricant and keep this high performance engine cool. Pulsar 220cc is the most stylish bike available in India after the Yamaha R15 & Karizma R. Though it resembles its siblings in most sense the voluminous front fairing and the fairing mounted mirrors distinct the pulsar 220cc from others. Pulsar 220cc comes with six spoke alloy wheels, stylish body panels, clear lens indicators and exposed chain. Like its family members, in pulsar 220cc except for the tachometer, everything else including fuel gauge, speedometer, odo and two trip meters finds place in the orange glow of the digital read. The stepped seat is adequately padded for both rider and pillion and ends in a smart two-piece grab bar.

Pulsar 220cc DTS FI offers a little under-seat storage cubby that can be unlocked via a cable release located under its lockable side panel. A massive stainless steel and alloy silencer adds a zing to the pulsar 220 along with the generous use of alloy for its rims, steering head, footrest-mounts and fuel-filler lid.

karizma

Picture
New Karizma ZMR has been making a lot of news in automotive market since some photos of Karizma in white shade leaked on net. Now Hero Honda has finally launched the much awaited tourer bike - New Karizma ZMR Fi in Indian Market.

Click here for more details and photos of New Karizma ZMR

Design and Styling Of Karizma R

Karizma R looks very stylish with black alloy die-cast wheels dual light tailpiece, front indicators, the fairing, silencer unit, stepped up seat, panel shapes and new yellow black instrument binnacle. The fairing is not a full one which can be seen on sports bikes but nevertheless it was never before there on any Indian bike. The tank doesn't look big like the Pulsar's bulky tank but it holds 15 litres of fuel.

The trapezoidal headlamp unit up front looks great and the Illumination is brilliant which is unmatched by any bike in the country. The guide lamps are superb and borrowed from the Royal Enfields. The tank recesses easily accommodated the legs of our tallest testers. The amber backlighting for instruments is exciting. Being connected directly to the battery, all lights and instruments work independently of the rpm of the engine, and are a boon at night.

New Karizma ZMR will be sold along with old Karizma model, Hero Honda has decided not to phase out Karizma R and sell both the models side by side.

Comfort & Ride Quality Of Karizma R

The sporty position of the seat offers the best possible seating position for the rider although the pillion seat could have been a little bit more longer. Even on long journeys, the back support is very good and the front shock-absorbers do a great job of damping the vibrations. The rear shock-absorbers are perfect for Indian Road conditions which mostly consist of pot-holes and speed breakers. The rear rider's comfort levels aren't all that great and could have done with some more thinking and concentration on that aspect.

Though the riding position is very sporty and similar to that on the older CBZ, it feels different. The long wheelbase at 1355mm helps stability. Gripping the wide bars, the rush of pleasure with its linear torque is a feeling difficult to put in words. Stability at any and every speed is top class. Turn-in is excellent and cornering is admirable. The way the suspension is set up and mated with the single downtube conventional frame is excellent.

Engine and Performance Of Karizma R

It is powerred by 17BHP 223cc single cylinder engine from the stables of Honda, who are possibly the best engine manufacturers world-wide.The shift lever is a sporty one and has a 1 down 4 up sports-bike like shift pattern. The motor is silky smooth across all bands of power and never shows signs of tiring and goes on and on and on. It seems as if you still have loads of power even at speeds of 100kmph. The idling speed of the engine is best set around.

The gearbox employs a tall close ratio fourth and fifth gear with lower gearing for the first three gears. This works out well giving one sufficient power out on the highway, yet not making the bike tough to ride around town. A wet multi-plate clutch is employed and feels perfect, with just the correct amount of feedback. Thumb the starter and the first thing you will notice is the refinement of the engine. The main important things are that you shouldn't open up the throttle and try speeding away. Gear shifts and acceleration should be gradual. A smooth driving style with minimal gear shifts is to be followed.

Fuel Economy Of Karizma R

Equipped with a larger capacity engine, the Karizma's mileage figures depend on how it is ridden. Under city riding conditions, the bike returned 30kpl and on the highway testing runs surprised with an impressive 45kpl at a speed of 70kph. Overall is a great bike with superb refinement, comfort and great handling. It is a highly capable and stylish bike but high price puts it out of reach for many.

PULSAR 150,180 and 200

Picture
Pulsar has been a major hit in the market; it comes in three variants: Pulsar 150 DTSi, Pulsar 180 DTSi & Pulsar 220 DTSi. Bajaj Pulsar DTSi comes with a throttle actuated ignition-control system that works in conjunction with a chip-controlled digital capacitor discharge ignition (CDI) system for accurate ignition timing under all conditions. Now Bajaj India has unvieled the upgraded model of the of the Pulsar 150 in response to the Suzuki GS150R & Honda CBF Stunner. The new model features the same 150cc engine which develops maximum power of 13 Bhp at 8500 rpm with maximum torque of 13.9 Nm at 6500 rpm.

Bajaj seems to have worked on the "Achilles heel" of the Pulsar by adopting a new gear shifting mechanism. It seems to have made quite improvement in the shift quality now. Moreover, the 150 now comes with the 1-down, 4-up pattern which is similar to the Pulsar 180 now. Visually, this bike looks strikingly similar to the Pulsar 180 but a trained eye can quickly spot the difference. The new model of Pulsar 150 carries over the "all black theme" from its bigger brothers. It does not features "split-seat" like the new Pulsar 180.

Following additional features have been added in the New Pulsar 150:

 - Digital Speedo, Tachometer assembly
 - Redesigened side and tapered tail panels
 - Rear "Led" (Light Emitting Diodes) tail light
 - The "Phantom" front fairing

But overall i feel all this will go in vain because customers are well aware of latest technology and features, they are not going to buy a bike which is outdated in terms of technology. Bajaj India should come out with completely new bikes which are upto date in terms of styling and latest features. Bajaj has also upgraded the Pulsar 180 & Pulsar 220. Similar to Pulsar 150 the changes are merely cosmetic. Click here for more details of New Pulsar 180New Pulsar 220.

Design Of Yamaha FZ16

The stylish yet innovative FZ16 has macho and muscular looks redefining the 150cc bikes segment. It keeps it simple, with street-tough naked styling and super-civilized power delivery and a specially designed riding position that gives riders extra confidence at lower speeds. Each and every part of FZ16 has been designed with a lot of detailed attention and careful thought. This ultimate degree of perfection means even the slightest feature has not been overlooked. Only Yamaha ensures this kind of craftsmanship.

The rider and the machine share a feeling of oneness, and from different angles the impression is different. This is particularly because the finest components have been used in its precise manufacturing. The FZ16 possesses both a rough and brutish expression as well as a certain subtlety. This high quality masterpiece will without doubt become a rage for the next generation.

Everything about this bike is big, the wide tyres, the huge tank, the beefy forks. Viewed side on it looks like a well built athelete on the start line flexing its muscles, waiting to smash all the records. FZ16 is an urban-cool motorcycle built for great performance and easy-living functionality, because that’s the whole idea of a bike like this. It has got heart-pumping knockout performance and it’s got serious attitude on top of that, a lean and mean look that’s all about raw power.

Engine & Features Of Yamaha FZ16

FZ16 is powered by a 153cc, air cooled, 4 stroke, SOHC engine which generates maximum power of 14 Bhp @ 7500 rpm with maximum torque of 13.6 Nm @ 6000 rpm. The 153cc engine of this bike is designed for the urban commute. The broad tyres, low center of gravity and high torque at low rpm makes it a breeze to drive in city traffic.

The bike covers the world standard 0-60 kmph sprint in just 5.5 seconds. The mid range thrust and the highly tuned throttle response are designed to give you the feel of a ultra-powerful bike in the urban ride. The meters on the FZ16 are installed in a Full Liquid Crystal Display (LCD). The speedometer, tachometer, trip meter, fuel gauge and other indicators are set in optimum position to keep the field of vision clear. Also, the engine starting signal is an example of the spirit of innovation.

The steel fuel tank with a plastic resin outer cover takes advantage of the freedom of shaping that plastic provides, giving the tank cover a powerful shape with modulations suggestive of the muscular body of an athlete. To give a sense of volume to the machine, an external diameter of 35mm is adopted in a two-layer type exhaust to minimize the effect of heat on the pipe.

The layout features a large-volume primary character on the underside of the crankcase. The muffler is an irregular shaped tapered type mid-ship muffler. A Monocross rear suspension unit provides 120 mm of wheel travel, while optimized oil and damping valve specs help ensure agile running performance and handling. It inhibits bottoming while riding with a tandem passenger as well as providing a very comfortable ride.

The petrol tank, silensor, the yellow-gold plated rear shock absorber and fat tyres give enough clues to the true strength of the Yamaha FZ16 motorcycle - torque that is a bit higher than the 160 Apache RTR and tuned for acceleration and mid-range than outright top speed. FZ16 gets its DNA from global FZ series of Yamaha motorcycles. Fat tyre at the rear, beefy tank, beefy front fork compliment the FZ16’s muscular character, which has become a huge hit among the young crowd in India.

Variants, Shades & Price Of Yamaha FZ16

Yamaha FZ16 is available in two models: FZ16 & FZ-S. FZ16 is available for 65000.00 and FZ-S is priced at Rs. 67000.00.

It is available in three shades:

- Lava Red
- Flaming Orange
- Midnight Black

TVS APACHE RTR FI 160

Picture
TVS Apache RTR FI 160 has added an another stunner on the roads. Stylish alloys, unique grab rails, classy silencer, larger & sharp lined fuel tank, all these elements combine perfectly to give TVS Apache RTR 160 a sporty eye-catching looks. The Apache RTR 160 has been upgraded with electronic fuel injection(EFI) and becomes Apache RTR 160 Fi. The EFI technology has enabled TVS to boost peak power of this bike. TVS has priced the new model at Rs. 65000.00 (Ex-showroom New Delhi).

Update: Apache RTR 180 Launched

Now, TVS Motors has come up with a more powerful variant of Apache - The Apache RTR 180. The bike retains the basic lines of the current RTR & is powered by a 177.4cc engine which generates 17 Bhp of maximum power with 15.5 Nm of maximum torque.

Click here for more details and photos of Apache RTR 180

Design & Intrument Cluster Of TVS Apache RTR 160 Fi

The Apache RTR 160 "Fi" features a naked chain cover, rear disk brake, tank cowl like in the Bajaj Pulsar 200 and a serrated design stickers (instead of the striped ones found on the RTR 160) which runs across the length of the bike. It comes with digital dash - LCD speedo, two trip meters, clock, odometer, fuel gauge and an analog tachometer. Also has useful features like service and battery indicator. Another useful feature is the clip on handlebar for various positions.

Apart from the Digital Speedometer and the Petal shaped disc brakes which are "new" additions on the RTR Apache 160, there isn't much change in the looks compared to the Apache 160 non-fi. The rear is also same with LED tail lamps, re-styled silencer and CBZ X-treme type split grab rail. The company has provided a visually larger size presence without the weight of the bike being altered. It comes with all new air scoops that help in quicker engine cooling and features data logging as in race bikes. These include 0-60 lap time and top speed indicators.

The tachometer continues to be an analogue one and houses telltale lights indicating low battery charge, service due and low fuel while weary looking indicators for high beam, turn indication and gearbox neutral reside separately. The silver finish for the console as shown at the bike’s preview has been dumped for a complete black affair. LED tail lamps, which have become a norm of sorts for this product category with the Pulsar and CBZ X-Treme already sporting the same, make their way on to the RTR as well.

Unique Features Of TVS Apache RTR 160 Fi

However, unique to the new Apache are the clip-on handlebars complete with nice looking alloy finished levers and meaty but comfortable grips. Not only do the adjustable bars add to the bike’s sporty demeanour, these along with the impressive looking alloy rearset footpegs, and a supportive seat make for a sporty but comfortable riding position as well. The bike also sports the most attractive and user-friendly set of split grab rails we have seen on an Indian bike.

1. Digital Speedometer.
2.
Petal shaped disc brakes.
3.
Serrated design stickers.
4.
Naked chain cover.
5.
LED tail lamps.
6.
Clip on handlebar for various positions.
7.
Service and battery indicator.
8. The digital display has a feature to test the top speed achieved.
9. You can also test your 0-60km/h timing on the digital display.
10. Tank cowl like in the Bajaj Pulsar 220.

CBZ Xtreme

Picture
New CBZ Xtreme has all the Hero Honda hallmarks - engine refinement, slick-shifting smooth gearbox, top-of-the-class vibration isolation, low engine noise and quality components. The headlamp and fairing combo looks relatively simple and straightforward except for two features. The turn indicators, which are usually stalked and stick out on either side, have been integrated into the headlamp housing. The New CBZ Xtreme now has clear lens for the indicators. A new tinted cowl adds to the improved aerodynamics and cuts the glare on the bike's instrumentation for the rider.

The X-Treme's instrument cluster is also very different incorporating circular gauges of varied sizes. There are analogue gauges, including an engine-rpm meter, a speedometer and fuel gauge, in addition to high beam, turn and neutral indicators. The large fuel tank of the New CBZ X-Treme is shapely and seems to have borrowed a few lines from the Ambition. Tall riders will appreciate generous knee recesses built into the fuel tank. Body side panels at the side of the new bike become chunkier and more muscular as they meet at the broad tail lamp at the rear.

With the crisscrossing lines of these panels and the deep knee recesses in the fuel tank, the New X-Treme's side profile is clearly its strongest, most admirable angle. The tail lamp cluster features a segmented stop and brake light section with the turn indicators built into a single unit that wraps around the brake light's bottom side. LEDs have been used replacing the conventional bulbs. The new cbz xtreme now has clear lens for the indicators like the front indicators. The bike's wheelbase at 1,325mm is only a shade lesser than the Pulsar's. The ground clearance is an adequate 145mm. 18-inch mag wheels are offered at the front and the rear of the bike. While the front features a 2.75-inch regular tyre, the rear tyre is 100/90 in size, which has been combined with a Tuff-up tube for the added advantage of a relatively puncture-free performance.

The only sore point about New CBZ Xtreme is the front looks which looks very small. With a proportionately small front fairing and headlamp, the bike's front does not exude the kind of aggression that would be liked by buyers in this segment. And also some buyers may not like the dual color combination for alloys. Rest apart, it is a very good 150cc bike and CBZ fans will love it!!

Additional Features in New CBZ Xtreme:

  • Clear Lens for turn indicators.
  • New Body Graphics and X-treme logo.
  • Combination of odd looking Orange & Black Alloys.
  • New three colour scheme.
  • Diagonal Styling colours.
  • Dual tone rear view mirrors
  • New visor & headlight with chrome trims.
  • Brushed aluminum side cover scoops.
  • Carbon matt finish console and new dial design.
  • Matt silver Handlebar.
  • Handle bar holder cover with X-treme logo.

HONDA CB Twister

Picture
A day after the launch of Bajaj Pulsar 135 LS, Honda India has launched the much talked about new 110cc bike - The "CB Twister". Previously it was expected to be launched at the Auto Expo 2010. CB Twister has been launched at a very competitive price which is Rs. 42000.00 (Ex-Showroom New Delhi) for the basic model which features kick start and drum brakes.

After doing a twist with its last launch – the 110 cc Twister, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India has now dazzled with a new sportier and premium version of its Unicorn, which has been christened CB Unicorn Dazzler.

Design & Styling of Honda CB Twister

The bike looks very sporty and aggressive in terms of looks and styling. It seems the designers had high end super bikes of Honda while designing the CB Twister. The fuel tank of CB Twister looks like reworked CBF Stunner's tank and also the red shock absorbers at the rear have been carried as it is from Stunner.

The headlight has been made very agressive and gels very well with the stylish  air scoops. Honda has already promised it won’t compete with splendors and passions but a niche bike in the commuter segment. The CB Twister boasts some never seen before features in this segment bike including six spoke mag alloys, front disc brake, stylish exhaust design, split grab rails, open chain and high quality paint.

The 110cc engine of Honda CB Twister generates maximum power of 9 Bhp at 8000 rpm with maximum torque of 9 Nm @ 6000 rpm which are more or less same like we have seen in New Honda Aviator & Honda Activa. Engine of Suzuki SlingShot

The engine looks like a straight lift off from the Zeus further giving credence that this is indeed a 124cc motorcycle that Suzuki has for sometime, been planning to launch. Once again, it looks like Suzuki has to rely on the rugged and fuel efficient 124cc four stroke engine that is also found on the Zeus and the Heat.

Instrument Cluster of Suzuki SlingShot

The instrument cluster of Suzuki SlingShot 125 is plain jane with a large speedometer and fuel gauge with other tell tales on right side of speedometer. Picture
The Bajaj Avenger 220 is a new cruiser from the company, but the only difference between this bike and its predecessor - the Avenger 200 - is in the engine. The Avenger 220 has also been put through a few other changes that makes it a little different from its predecessor, especially in terms of riding position and comfort, both of which have now made it more suitable for city riding conditions. Avenger 220 is not meant for bikers who keep checking their fuel gauge. Bajaj has included the fuel gauge in the new avenger 220. Similar to its predecessor avenger 220 instrumentation has no fuel gauge, it sits neatly in the fuel tank.

Main Classic Features of Bajaj Avenger 220:

1) Round headlamp
2) Simple fairing-less front profile chrome-finished single pod instrument. cluster all exuding old-world charm.
3) Multi-spoked, chrome-plated wheels.

Engine of Bajaj Avenger 220

The new Avenger 220's engine produces maximum power of 19 Bhp at 8100 rpm with maximum torque of 17.5 Nm at 7000 rpm which is same like Pulsar 220. The 5-speed gear-box is smooth, offering a positive feel to the ride and a crisp performance with good throttle and wide power spread ability.

Ride & Handling of Bajaj Avenger 220

The 1475mm wheelbase, 17” front and 15”rear wheels lend the Avenger 220 its characteristic cruiser looks and performance while the broad rider seat and splayed out riding position ensure comfort and better dynamics, even when handling corners and cutting bends of the awkward kind. A flat handlebar, a twin down-tube frame in the front, the steel swing-arm reaching the rear wheel all make for old-fashioned bike mechanisms and heavy traffic does bring out the horrors of handling this heavy cruiser, so corner tackling is a challenge then. However, braking being incredible, the stability is rock-solid.
